Mind-reading with poker chips

C.H.I.P.S. was created by Jasper Blakeley, made by Alan Wong and presented by Peter Turner. A set of colorful poker chips lets you demonstrate intuition and body-language reading using an entirely mechanical method. No batteries or electronics are required.

The effect

Remove five differently colored poker chips from a small velvet bag and place them on a table. With your back turned, spectators each choose a chip and hide it in their fist behind their back. Turn around and explain that you are looking for the blue chip. Ask everyone whether they have it, instructing each person to answer no. You immediately identify who has the blue chip.

The routine can be repeated and performed for one to five people. It suits casual social performances, parlor and stand-up cabaret.

Instructions and bonus material

The video instructions include live performances and in-depth ideas from Jasper Blakeley and Peter Turner. Bonus material includes Peter Turner's one-person, three-chip which-pocket routine and a jam session with further presentation ideas.

Props and practical use

The custom-made chips are bright and durable. The routine is described as easy to perform with an instant reset. Carry the set in your pocket and use it as a starting point for your own mentalism routines.
