Nick Trost's Australian Aces is a powerful monte routine in which the spectator repeatedly tries to follow the black Ace – only to discover that the cards are never where they expect them to be. The routine builds through several phases before delivering a surprising transformation of the red and black Aces.

You openly display four cards: three Aces of Diamonds and one Ace of Clubs. The spectator's task is simple – keep track of the black Ace.

Follow the black Ace

To make things easier, one of the red Aces is removed and placed face down on the table. The remaining three cards are clearly shown as two red Aces and the black Ace.

The black Ace is placed between the two red Aces. Yet when the three cards are displayed again, they are all red Aces. The black Ace has somehow ended up on the table.

The sequence is repeated, but once again the spectator fails to follow the black Ace as it returns to the table.

The final surprise

On the third phase, the spectator naturally expects the black Ace to be on the table once again. This time, however, the tabled card is revealed to be a red Ace – while the other three cards are now all black Aces.

Australian Aces combines a clear monte premise with a progressive structure and a strong final transformation.

Ready to perform

The routine is easy to learn and easy to perform. All necessary gimmicks are included, together with online instructions.

The cards are printed by USPCC.
