Origami Conjuring by Ethan Yip & Johnny Yip is a highly visual Torn-and-Restored system in which ordinary strips of coloured paper can be examined, openly torn into pieces and crumpled together – before instantly transforming into a complete, vividly coloured paper ball with a gentle breath.

Developed by Ethan Yip and Johnny Yip, presented by Illuwizard and inspired by Dan Harlan's original Kamifusen routine, Origami Conjuring expands the concept into a complete system with multiple practical applications.

Torn paper becomes a complete paper ball

The coloured paper strips can first be examined by the spectators. You openly tear them into pieces and crumple the fragments together in full view. With a gentle breath, the torn pieces visually transform into a complete paper ball.

At the conclusion of the transformation, the performer's hands are completely clean and the finished result can be openly displayed. The object to be torn can be examined before the routine, and after the switch the resulting object can also be examined.

Four complete routines

The tutorial teaches four complete routines:

  • Torn Paper to Paper Ball – examined coloured paper is torn into pieces, crumpled together and transformed into a complete paper ball.
  • Chinese Snowstorm – use the Origami Conjuring System to create a highly visual Chinese Snowstorm finale.
  • Torn-and-Restored Napkin – tear a napkin into pieces and restore it in front of the audience.
  • Torn-and-Restored Card – extend the system to a playing card for a clean and direct restoration.

Once you understand the Origami Conjuring System, you can also use the concept to develop original effects and routines of your own.

For parlour, theatre and stage

Origami Conjuring can be adapted to different performance environments and is recommended for parlour magicians, theatre performers and stage magicians. The difficulty level is rated intermediate, although beginners can learn the system with sufficient practice.

A jacket with a chest pocket is required for performance.

Reusable system and reset

When used according to the instructions, the Origami Conjuring System and paper balloons can be reused for a long time, provided the finished paper ball is not given away. Tissue paper is the only regular consumable required for the supplied set and can easily be obtained separately.
